COMMUNICATIONS, COMPUTERS & ELECTRONICS

Communications are his obsession. As a child Pedja built his first phone by two boxes and a rope. Later he used some electricity and wires for the same stuff, then used radio waves... In age of 16 he graduated as novice radio amateur operator in radio club YU1ABH, and then he started using serious equipment. Today, he is class B operator (callsign: YZ1TP) and one of the leaders in spreading hamspirit among young in Užice.

One of the electronics projects, home Hi-Fi system. Power amplifier (2x40W sin) with integrated preamplifier and simple mixer combined with Turandot GM 7606 turntable served and home made three-way speakers (2x60 W) served good for more than a decade.

Wish to talk to far distances results with involving electronics. Among lots of hobby electronics projects, one that lasted is his personal sound system built together with his brother Nenad. It consists of preamplifier with simple mixer, 60 watts stereo power amplifier and pair of 3-system speaker boxes, all hand made. It was built in 1986/87. and it is still in function.

As teenager, he was also interested for computers, which at that time were rare to see. At first, he used Sinclair ZX Spectrum computer available in Radio Club (at that time he developed application for titling television programme for local TV station). Very soon he bought his own ZX Spectrum, and lately, in 1989, made it to work as packet radio station, which was rare at that time.

That was almost the time to buy first PC, and modem as first add-on. After he founded how that little thing works and how communication stuff works he decided and opened his own bulletin board, Oreska. That was in March 1992.

Few months later, Pedja became one of the founders of South European Team Network (SETNet), the first amateur bulletin board network in Yugoslavia (soon it spread into four countries). He was appointed to be the first general coordinator for SETNet. He remains on that position until middle of 1996 when he resigned. was founded in 1993. and stayed on that position for two years. For that time, network consisted of more than 40 bulletin boards, with it's own registered domain, and e-mail and news links to the Internet. In 1996, disappointed by several people who abused network to achieve their personal interests, he resigned.

Pedja's activity in communications field was not only through SETNet. He was appointed to be a host manager for Yugoslav sections of world networks RANet and U'NI-net. In 1995. he became moderator of HIGHSPEEDMODEM conference on U'NI-net, famous world BBS network.

During 1996, he founded DataVoyage, which gathered enthusiasts in several fields of activities. Most important was communication system which provided mail and news access to Internet for Yugoslavs for free. That was needed in that time, since Internet was not widely available. It provided even specialized services like Email-To-Fax. That lasted until NATO aggression on Yugoslavia (1999) when telecommunication system was destroyed. Later, Internet became widely available by commercial providers and there was no point for providing such services on noncommercial basis.

Pedja's main opinion about communications is that new technology should serve to connect people, to make them friends and to know each other better, to exchange knowledge, information and joy, of course. He does not just think that way, he lives that way.

Therefore, DataVoyage project was continued, but now targeted for using Internet as main communication media. Main attention was pointed to developing various WEB sites, hosting mailing lists, providing WEB services, developing intranets etc. From that point, his hobby became a job, but it is still done with the same enthusiasm as at the beginning.

There is alos one more activity that should not be missed. Pedja is very active spreading spirit of saving Intenret from abuse. He founded Yugoslav Anti-spam Assotiation nonformal assotioation of people fighting against spam and other abusive behavior on Internet.

When you are spending most time in front of the computer screen you do need fresh air from time to time. Living in Užice is great opportunity to enjoy in countryside which is rare to see in nowadays Europe (Užice is situated among mountains Zlatibor and Tara). Its not unusual to see him climbing on some cliff in surrounding. He is not fan of dangerous challenges, but feeling of stone under your fingers, adrenaline streaming fast through your body when you are on height fighting gravity and fighting the real nature which you can percept all around by it's sights, sounds and smelts is always a great joy. Associating with people of similar interests gave him opportunity to meet some of them who were on highest mountains in the world. But, unlike, other climbers, he does not dream of going to Mt. Everest. He considers that too extreme and far of a pleasure.

If you have not tried mountain climbing yet, then try it. You do not have to go somewhere to kill yourself. Real pleasure is actually far of a danger. Just take a friend and get out. You do not have to get somewhere high, actually, any hill will be OK while there is a place to make fire and broil something on a grill.

Mountain biking is another great opportunity. Although so different than climbing which asks no more than just your body, biking can be joyful and extreme as well. While you are using mechanical tool, you are still moving yourself only by strength of your body. It still connects you with the nature but in different way. Now, you are able to travel longer distances, and see more of your surroundings. Mountain is still wild and beautiful, even if you are trying to fight it with your bike.

LITERATURE

In his school days, Pedja used to read everything that was printed: comics, newspapers, all sorts of books. Only school books were not his favorite.

Nowadays he reads occasionally, when he can steal some free time. He became fan of science fiction, likes fantasy but remain open to classic literature, mostly novels based on historical facts. He managed to collect large amount of literature in electronic form, mostly science fiction and fantasy, which was available through his BBS Oreska, and now partially available at SF-BAY web site.

Magic of remembering sight on paper never stops. Ability to save on paper friends, people you meet, places you visit or events you witness makes you feel like you have God's power. MUSIC

Is there anyone who is not interested in music? Pedja does not have special interests in this field. He just listens good music. Mainly, it's rock and pop, metal ballads and easy blues. He owns solid collection of records and CD's and lately he made awesome collection of mp3 music. Favorites? Hard to tell... It would be quite a long list.
